Family Session at Scotsdale Farm

These days the weather has been getting a bit warmer with more sunny days. I’m hoping the deep freeze is behind us, and Spring days are nearby. I don’t know about you but just by seeing the sunshine and being outside give me this feeling of peace and calmness, which is so much needed when our household is so loud and chaos (almost every day lol).

Today on the blog, I’m featuring a family session from last summer at Scotsdale Farm. I first met Ashley and Cody at their wedding in 2017. I was second shooting for my friend, Livi (@livishawphotography). My first impression of Ashley was that she’s fun, easygoing and such a badass bride. Have you ever seen a bride who would pull up her wedding dress and drive a golf cart with the entire bridal party on it?. I was blown away. That evening portrait shoot was filled with so much fun, laughter and beautiful golden light. It’s a wedding that I’d never forget.

Two years later, to my delight, I got a message from Ashley in my inbox, that she wanted me to document a milestone for her and Cody, as they were expecting their first baby. I was pleasantly surprised and so thrilled to connect with Ashley again. Their maternity session took place at Kerncliff Park with beautiful Fall foliage. It was just amazing!. Ashley and Cody are a joy to work with. Their fun and down-to-earth personalities has made the experience so memorable for me every single time. Fast forward to several months later, we met up again for their FIRST family session and I got to meet the little miss for the first time. She was 8 months old. So precious, so cute and fun to be around with. She did so well for her first session too. Lots of smiles, and kisses and snuggles to her parents. And I loved capturing all of that. We chose Scotsdale Farm because it is close to Ashley, and also has beautiful backdrops for photos. Scotsdale is one of the first locations that I scouted in the early days of photography, and till today, it remains one of my must-go to locations every year. I just can’t get enough of the open fields. Seriously though, who can?

So looking forward to more summer night sessions like this. If you haven’t been to Scotsdale already, it is a heritage farm located in Georgetown. The property is managed and maintained by a group of volunteers called “Friends of Scotsdale”. The place features a beautiful tree tunnel when you drive in, trails, open fields and white barns. Check it out when you have time, you won’t be disappointed.

Warmly,

Lucy xo.
