Youyou's Family Session at Harlow Farm

It was such a perfect Fall day for Youyou’s Family Session at Harlow Farm.

When Youyou reached out to me for a family session, I asked if she would be interested in doing it at Harlow Farm, located in Lynden. This charming countryside farm is what a photographer dreams are made of — with sun’s golden hour, open fields, and peaceful pond views. It’s the kind of setting that makes family portraits feel effortless.

I was so happy that Youyou agreed.

We started the session by the pond. There’s a little deck that is sturdy and safe to stand on. We were about 1.5 hours before sunset. The light was warm and beautiful. It was very early in the Fall, so the air just started to get chilly, but not super cold yet. There were very few clouds in the sky, and with the warm sun, we could see all the reflections in the water. After we finished at the pond, we proceeded to the area beside and behind the pond, and eventually came to the open field.

It was a joy to photograph Youyou’s family. We began with family portraits, then added some playful shots with Mommy and Daddy once everyone felt more comfortable. Grandma joined us in some photos as well. Baby F was a charm during the entire session. He was happy and loved being held by mom and dad. Some of my favorite moments from the shoot are the simple ones: like dad twirling baby in the warm summer light, or the quiet shot of baby F sitting peacefully on the picnic blanket, exploring the strange new world around him.

What a dream session! And I was so grateful I got to document this memory for them.

This little fella there followed us the whole time while we were at the pond 😄. I think he was curious of what we were doing, or maybe he wasn’t sure of the companies he got that day haha.

Harlow Farm truly feels like a dream—the open fields, stunning scenery, and that magical golden light make it one of my favorite spots for family photos.
